Invest in Your Physical and Mental Health and Well-being

ON THE 14TH OF NOVEMBER 2015, I was fortunate enough to attend the Get Inspired Seminar, which was hosted by my mentor and coach Veli Ndaba. The lessons I learned at the event are priceless. Each speaker had a different subject to speak about, according to their field of expertise. This event was aimed at helping the audience with changing their mindset so that they can Change their lives, by learning about the system and steps needed to make a commitment and to implement positive change. The first speaker was Paula Brown who spoke on Physical and Mental health. What I learned from her talk is that, as much as we would like to play the blame game, life is all about choice. We can manage our reactions to life. We choose how we react to the problems that it throws at us, and we control those reactions.


In order to live the best life, we must first take full responsibility for our physical and mental health or well-being. There are three things you can do to be successful in your body and your own mind.

  •  Invest in you
  •  Focus on you
  •  Realise that you are your best asset

Sometimes we tend to focus more on other people`s needs than we do on ourselves. We take care of our spouse, the children, extended families and even our friends, and neglect the asset we have (i.e. ourselves). We forget that without our physical and mental health we cannot take care of the people in our lives. We  stop focusing on ourselves; therefore our physical and mental well-being suffers. When that happens we end up paying less attention to our dreams and aspirations and fail to live out our purpose.

Paula  Brown also said, “Sometimes success is how good a person you    are to yourself and others.” You must always give yourself the best treatment. You can do that by looking out for number one, by taking good care of your physical and mental well-being. And the right time to start is NOW. Just get active. This is what success is about. If you are not successful physically and mentally then you won’t have the capability to achieve your best in this life. You need to develop that millionaire mindset. Think big and think rich. Health and wealth go hand in hand. You can have all the money in the world, but if you don’t take good care of yourself, you will lose your money and lose your life.


Look at your life right now. How satisfied are you with your life right now? How happy are you? These are the two question that she asked, and it left us all inspired to start changing our lives and taking care of our physical and mental well-being. I don’t know about anyone else, all I know is that I personally began to view my life differently. I am more positive, confident, and enthusiastic and my level of self-esteem has increased tremendously. My health and physical well-being are my greatest sources of wealth.

I am one of those people who has not been taking good care of themselves when it comes to my physical and mental wellness. I have been procrastinating on starting with my exercise routine, starting and stopping, and even worse; eating junk food. I gained a couple of kilos and since I attended the Get Inspired Seminar, I have made physical and mental health one of my major goals. This will not be possible if I don`t develop the courage to discipline myself and sticking to the plan.



Greg Anderson once said, “Wellness is the complete integration of body, mind, and spirit – the realization that everything we do, think, feel, and believe has an effect on our state of well-being” and I have to agree with this because when you exercise somehow you feel a sense of relief, you are able to think clearly and generate great ideas especially when you do it with a positive mental attitude, and never mind the pain and not let it stop you on your mission. The results will be profound. The same goes for positive thinking, nothing seems impossible to someone who is constantly thinking positive thoughts. And I have noted that positive thoughts always lead to positive actions and negative thoughts lead to negative actions, and therefore people end up living a life of regrets.

Don’t let it be you. Start today and realize that you are your best asset and live your life accordingly, invest in you and that investment yields the greatest return. Look after your physical and mental well-being, and begin to enjoy life, and always spend your time with other winners.
